The history of the HANSHIN GROUP dates back approximately 100 years when a private company was established to manufacture glass bottles in 1920.Since then, containers manufacturing has changed remarkably as technological innovation after World War II replaced glass with plastics.In 2017, the Group achieved 24 billion yen in sales and ranked second in Japan as a pharmaceutical containers manufacturer.

We, the HANSHIN GROUP, will continue to meet the society's ever-changing needs. With technologies, know-how, and the network built, we offer detailed service throughout production and high quality goods. We make resin products, employ a BFS system, and perform contract manufacturing to customers in various industries including pharmaceuticals, foods/beverages, and cosmetics.

Group history

1920 Kiichi Takata (father of the current CEO) started a private company to manufacture glass bottles in Toyama, Japan.
1941 December Following the Wartime Industrial Readjustment Law, Kiichi Takata became the president of a company with 17 glass manufacturing workers in the Toyama prefecture to produce and sell glass bottles, tubes, and stoppers. He established Toyama Yakubin Kougyou K.K. (currently Hokuriku Glass Co., Ltd.) with a capital of 195,000 yen.The company started operations in Toyama city. The business was built on a land of approximately 10,000 m2 with seven buildings (including the factory) of 3,200 m2 each. It was an army-designated factory with about 200 employees.
1945 August The factory was destroyed by the Toyama air raid carried out by the US Air Force; hence, the company was temporarily closed.
1945 October Resumed business at a temporary factory in the present Oyabe city.
1946 July Rebuilt the factory at the burned location and resumed operations.
1955 September Established HANSHIN YOKI Co., Ltd. at 2-32 Ootedouri, Higashi-ku, Osaka
1965 April Established DAINIHON YAKUHIN KOGYO Co., Ltd.
1966 November HANSHIN YOKI Co., Ltd. Tokyo Office was established in Nishi-Shin Koiwa, Katsushika-ku, Tokyo.
1972 August TOYAMAKEN YAKUBIN KOGYO Co., Ltd. changed its name to "HOKURIKU GLASS KOGYO Co., Ltd.".
1972 September Established HANSHIN KASEI KOGYO Co., Ltd. in Konaka, Toyama City.
1972 October Completed relocation of HANSHIN YOKI Co., Ltd. Hokuriku Branch office building to 163 in Konaka, Toyama city.
1972 October Relocated the headquarters of HOKURIKU GLASS KOGYO Co., Ltd. to 163 in Konaka, Toyama.
1973 April Construction of HOKURIKU GLASS KOGYO Co., Ltd. factory built in Ushijima Honmachi, Toyama City.
1975 October Moved HANSHIN YOKI Co., Ltd. headquarters to Shikita East, Joto-ku, Osaka.
1977 September Established HANSHIN SHOUJI Co., Ltd.
1978 December Moved HANSHIN KASEI KOGYO Co., Ltd. Tokyo office to 6-16-4, Kameido, Koutou-ku, Tokyo.
1981 January Established HANSHIN YOKI Co., Ltd. Shiga Office.
1981 April Established HANSHIN YOKI Co., Ltd. Yamagata Office.
1983 March The founder, Kiichi Takata, passed away. (March 8, 1983)
1985 January HANSHIN KASEI KOGYO Co., Ltd. Tokyo office is promoted to Tokyo Branch.
1985 April Established HANSHIN YOKI Co., Ltd. Okayama factory in Asakuchi-gun, Okayama. (Now Asakuchi-shi) in Yorishima-cho.
1985 October HANSHIN KASEI KOGYO Co., Ltd. obtained a license for manufacturing pharmaceutical devices (Ministry of Health and Welfare, Pharmaceutical Affairs Act, Article 12 Paragraph 1).
1988 June HANSHIN KASEI KOGYO Co., Ltd. added a second Toyama factory.
1990 October Makoto Takata became the CEO and Junichi Takata became the president of the HANSHIN GROUP.
1995 March HANSHIN KASEI KOGYO Co., Ltd. manufacturing factory at Ibaraki in Nakagou-cho, Kitaibaraki City, Ibaraki
1996 November The HANSHIN Building is newly built at 163 Konaka,Toyama City.
1997 April Constructed Dainihon Pharmaceutical Industry Co., Ltd. manufacturing factory at Osawano
1997 August DAINIHON YAKUHIN KOGYO Co., Ltd. Changed corporate name to PHARMAPACK Co., Ltd.
1998 July PHARMAPACK Co., Ltd. Osawano factory Second phase construction completed.
1998 November PHARMAPACK Co., Ltd. BFS Company Osawano factory obtained a license for manufacturing drugs.
1999 April HANSHIN KASEI KOGYO Co., Ltd. received the Science and Technology Director Award.
1999 November PHARMAPACK Co., Ltd.'s Osawano factory obtained a license for manufacturing soft drinks.
2001 September HOKURIKU GLASS KOGYO Co., Ltd. closed the Ushijima factory.
2002 April HANSHIN KASEI KOGYO Co., Ltd. received the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Prize.
2002 April HANSHIN KASEI KOGYO Co., Ltd. received the Japan Patent Office Commissioner's Award.
2002 September HANSHIN KASEI KOGYO Co., Ltd. obtained ISO9001 certification.
2002 September Moved HANSHIN KASEI KOGYO Co., Ltd. Tokyo Branch to Higashikanda, Chiyoda-ku.
2002 September PHARMAPACK Co., Ltd. obtained a license for manufacturing quasi-drugs.
2004 March Established HANSHIN AP Co., Ltd.
2005 August Constructed HANSHIN KASEI KOGYO Co., Ltd. manufacturing factory at Osawano
2005 September PHARMAPACK Co., Ltd. Osawano factory The third factory was expanded.
2005 September HANSHIN YOKI Co., Ltd. marks its 50th anniversary.
2011 March PHARMAPACK Co., Ltd. obtained a license for manufacturing cosmetics.
2011 May PHARMAPACK Co., Ltd.'s Headquarters obtained a license for marketing quasi-drugs.
2012 May Constructed HANSHIN KASEI KOGYO Co., Ltd. manufacturing factory at Gotenba.
2014 November HANSHIN KASEI KOGYO Co., Ltd. obtained a license for manufacturing pharmaceutical devices.
2014 November PHARMAPACK Co., Ltd. added a fourth Osawano factory.
2016 March HANSHIN KASEI KOGYO Co., Ltd. obtained a Business Continuity Management (BCM) rating.
2017 March PHARMAPACK Co., Ltd. obtained a Business Continuity Management (BCM) rating.
2017 May HANSHIN KASEI KOGYO Co., Ltd.'s Toyama factory (eye drop manufacturing line) obtained ISO15378 certification.
2017 December PHARMAPACK Co., Ltd. became a certified regional company driving the future of the local economy (by the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry).
